Baba Garia Mission

About Baba Garia Mission

Who We Are

Baba Garia Mission is a registered non-profit organization based in Tripura, India, working for the upliftment and empowerment of tribal and rural communities through education, skill development, health awareness, and cultural preservation.
Founded under the guidance of Jamatia Hoda, the apex body of the Jamatia community, Baba Garia Mission has been a symbol of dedication, discipline, and service since its inception. The organization is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Reg. No. 3835/2001) and is recognized by the Planning Commission of India (NGO Partnership ID: TR/2010/0031083).

Our Inspiration

The mission draws its inspiration from Baba Garia, the revered deity of the indigenous people of Tripura, symbolizing prosperity, harmony, and protection. Guided by these values, Baba Garia Mission continues to spread the light of education and moral strength among the underprivileged and tribal population.

Our Journey

Tripura, once one of the most remote and educationally backward states of India, faced many challenges in reaching quality education to tribal areas. In response, Jamatia Hoda decided to establish a dedicated institution that would focus on the educational and social advancement of tribal communities.
Thus, Baba Garia Mission was born — not merely as an organization but as a movement of hope and transformation.
Since 2001, the Mission has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for children and youth who were once left behind due to poverty, isolation, and lack of facilities.

Today, Baba Garia Mission operates multiple schools, hostels, and vocational training centers, touching thousands of lives across Tripura.

What We Do

Our core work revolves around holistic community development.
We run educational institutions, skill centers, awareness programs, and cultural initiatives across different districts of Tripura.
Key activities include:

  • Running Garia Academy (Model School) — a CBSE-affiliated residential school for tribal students.

  • Managing several junior basic schools and pre-primary centers in remote villages.

  • Conducting vocational training in areas such as computer education, tailoring, motor mechanics, and weaving.

  • Organizing moral education classes every week to build strong ethical values in students.

  • Running dropout coaching centers to reintroduce education to youths who had discontinued schooling.

  • Hosting health awareness and medical camps in collaboration with local bodies.

  • Promoting indigenous arts, music, and cultural programs to preserve tribal heritage.

Our Vision

To create an educated, self-reliant, and morally strong tribal society — empowered to contribute to the development of Tripura and the nation as a whole.
We envision a future where every tribal child has access to quality education, modern opportunities, and equal participation in nation-building while maintaining the pride of their cultural identity.

Our Mission

Our mission is to uplift the tribal and rural population of Tripura through education, vocational training, and moral guidance. We believe that education is the most powerful tool to eradicate poverty, social injustice, and extremism.
We aim to reach every child in need, build capable youth, and encourage unity, peace, and national integrity among all communities.

Our Achievements

  • Established Garia Academy (CBSE Code: 2030015) at Garia Hathai, Udaipur — serving over 500 students with residential facilities.

  • Operates several branch schools and training centers across South and West Tripura.

  • Successfully conducted Madhyamik Dropout Coaching Programs — bringing hundreds of students back to mainstream education.

  • Recognized nationally with the “Jewel of India Award (2013)” for excellence in education and community development.

  • Supported by reputed institutions including CRPF, ONGC, Assam Rifles, and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
